Story
Six brothers are called up to serve in the army. On their way to the front, they must report to a border post. They have no suitable gifts or money to pass the border. But they do have stories—stories in abundance. Stories about an enchanted lake, about a puppeteer who steps over corpses to achieve success, and about a young man so beautiful that the men in his village, out of pure jealousy, would like nothing more than to diminish him. The brothers tell and tell as if their lives depend on it. And in a way, they do.
