Story
Two statues in a big city. One stands in the square, the other in the park. They look at each other, but they cannot reach one another. They are connected by the birds that fly back and forth, perching here and there. Each time with the same message: He loves you, says the bird to the statue in the square. She loves you, says the bird to the statue in the park. The birds cannot be driven away by anything or anyone. Until the statues are taken away and melted down.
One day, a new statue appears in the square…
Ted van Lieshout poetically describes a romance in bronze. Ludwig Volbeda draws the city full of sculptures with equal poetry, in which the birds bring a man and a woman together as a tiny ballerina.
